[Sponsored Post] Feelingirls Body Shapers & More

I’m a strong supporter of feeling good about ourselves, taking care of our health through healthy lifestyles & fitness and that added support, if we feel like it is absolutely necessary.

I’m not going to lie- I’ve used body shapers in the past and I still do such as cinches & waist trainers while I’ve toyed with the idea of padded underwear in the past. Depending on what I’m wearing, sometimes I feel like these articles of clothing help emphasize our natural curves and help us feel more confident with our bodies especially if you’re like me who has a pouch! Insert recent internet search: best waist cincher for women

I was recently contacted by Feelingirls to check out their collection of items dedicated to fitness and shaping and I was definitely interested in what they have to offer. While I haven’t checked anything out yet (not necessarily a part of this months’ budget), I still wanted to share my favorite items just in case it was something you were looking for. I was particularly curious about finding the “best fitness leggings for women” since I am currently shooting a health video for Bayhana so I hope you liked my choice!

Here are my top 3 items:

LINK
I’m in love with the dual layers of this cincher and the snake skin design. It feels like there’s enough support especially for the back and I really like the sleek design.

LINK
I first saw leggings like this during my episode with Raine Baljak and I really admired the “airiness” of the design. I was never curious about this design until I saw it with my own eyes and now, I really want my own pair!

LINK

I’m not quite familiar with this product but it is definitely under the category of hot panties online sale it seems like it’s a breast lifter and body shaper at the same time. I like how this piece accentuates the hips without the use of hip pads but instead creates the illusion of wider hips through the fabric and materials that they use.

Remember, it’s important to be comfortable in your own skin but don’t pressure yourself to have what others may perceive to have the “perfect body”. If these items help you on your journey, please indulge yourself but never doubt that you are beautiful in any and every angle!

‘Tis the season for Ginebra San Miguel calendar

Come “ber” months, aside from the frenzy that the start of Christmas season brings, the launch of Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl has also become a much-anticipated event.

Ginebra San Miguel calendars have become a staple in neighborhood sari-sari stores, mini groceries, barbershops, and laundry hubs. In recent years, the Ginebra San Miguel calendar has turned into a sought-after Christmas giveaway, appealing mostly to consumers and fans who want to add the special merchandise to their collection of celebrity souvenirs.

For 2020, Ginebra San Miguel recently introduced lovely Kapuso actress/TV host Sanya Lopez as its newest Calendar Girl during a festive media launch held at the Novotel in Quezon City. The world’s leading gin brand revealed Sanya Lopez as “The Island Girl” with the calendars set amidst some of the country’s most beautiful islands as backdrops.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen as Ginebra San Miguel’s 2020 Calendar Girl. I feel excited and nervous at the same time. To be part of Ginebra San Miguel’s history, to be entrusted with this role as a brand ambassador and to be the newest addition to the Ginebra San Miguel family is a huge blessing,” says Sanya Lopez.

Ginebra San Miguel Inc. (GSMI) officials General manager Emmanuel Macalalag, National Sales and Marketing manager Allan Mercado and Marketing manager Ronald Molina formally welcomed Sanya Lopez in a grand ceremonial toast during the launch featuring her own Ginebra San Miguel cocktail called “Sanya’s Island Mix”, a concoction of pineapple, buko juice, and gin.

“We chose Sanya Lopez as our brand ambassador because she embodies what Ginebra San Miguel represents – courage, passion, optimism, and never-say-die spirit. Sanya is truly ‘ganado sa buhay’ as she worked her way up to become one of the most recognizable faces in the entertainment industry today,” says Molina.

All of the six calendar layouts will be made available soon.

RISING STAR

Since being discovered in 2012 by the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, GMA star builder, Sanya Lopez has treaded the path to being a serious actress taking on roles that showed off her acting prowess including her portrayal of Hara Danaya in the TV remake of “Encantadia” and in her recently-concluded series “Dahil sa Pag-ibig”. She will soon be seen opposite Superstar Nora Aunor in the film “Isa Pang Bahaghari” directed by Joel Lamangan.

“I consider the challenges and struggles that I went through in life as motivation to never give up in pursuing my dreams. It is my family that inspires me to be ‘ganado sa buhay’,” relates Sanya Lopez. “For me, when you say ‘Island Girl’, you see a woman who is strong and independent,” she adds.

As Ginebra San Miguel’s “Island Girl”, Sanya Lopez will be joining the “Ginuman Fest” tour, the gin brand’s annual series of music festivals that brings together gin lovers around the country as One Ginebra Nation.

To prepare for her Ginebra San Miguel calendar girl shoot, Sanya Lopez went on a no-carbs diet. “I only ate fish and chicken. I also did a lot of cardio workouts, mostly running, muay Thai and boxing,” she shares.

She was, likewise, thrilled to be photographed by one of the country’s most talented young photographers BJ Pascual.

A LONG-STANDING TRADITION

Inspired by the hit US TV series Charlie’s Angels, the Ginebra San Miguel Super Angels, which eventually evolved into Ginebra San Miguel Calendar Girl had popular beauty queens, models and actresses grace its calendars since it was started in 1988.

Ginebra San Miguel’s first calendar girl was model/TV host and now fashion designer Monina Tan, who posed in the calendar ala Marilyn Monroe.

After their respective reigns, beauty queens who posed for the calendar were Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Anjanette Abayari (1994), Binibining Pilipinas-International Alma Concepcion (1995), Miss Asia Pacific International Michelle Aldana (1998) and most recently, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach (2019) with the theme aptly called “Center of the Universe”.

Sexy stars Janna Victoria (1999), Patricia Javier (2000), and Aubrey Miles (2003), were a hit in their sizzling calendars while singer Geneva Cruz (2001), ex-teen stars Rica Peralejo (2002) and Angelica Panganiban (2007) surprised the public by shedding their sweet images in the calendars.

Actresses Belinda Bright and Maricar de Mesa (2004) were the first calendar girls to appear together, while Marian Rivera owns the distinction as the only actress to become a Ginebra San Miguel calendar girl twice, in 2009 and 2014. Long-time best friends Anne Curtis (2011) and Georgina Wilson (2013) have also been calendar girls, along with Ellen Adarna (2015), Arci Munoz (2016), and Myrtle Sarrosa (2018).

Like Sanya Lopez, other Kapuso stars who joined the ranks of these popular celebrities were Maureen Larrazabal (2005), Iwa Moto (2008), Krista Ranillo (2010), Solenn Heussaff (2012), and Kim Domingo (2017).

Monsters The Musical- A Review

(Photos taken from Monsters The Musical IG page. Screen capped cuz I’m a G.)

What can I say about Monsters The Musical? Well, since I’m at a complete loss for words, allow me to borrow my friend, Alem Garcia’s words- “the show in one word was FLAWLESS.”

As we all know, Monsters The Musical is a musical play about being brave. With hints of it having an #LGBTQIA centered synopsis where of course, #LoveWins, my ignorant self thought that it would simply just be about that and nothing more but believe me, it was more than “just that”. And then some.

This modern love story which was beautifully written and directed by THE Sir Jude Gitamondoc cleverly uses our ever loved and cherished Cebuano talent, Cattski‘s, music to add an unexpected twist and new light to her songs that we 90’s kids grew up with.

If you need a refresher to her music- catch it here. If you haven’t heard her music yet, you can thank me later.

With an amazing cast that added so much life and character to the story and songs, Monsters The Musical was familiar; it was our kind of funny; it was heart warming and more importantly, it felt like home.

But I would have to say the star of the night was definitely Jacky Chang. As a seasoned singer, I always knew she could sing but it was her acting skills that blew me away. Her portrayal of Bea, a strong willed yet troubled woman, is what truly captivated the crowd together with her magnetic chemistry with co-star, Trixie Alturas, whose acting also really captured our hearts. Trixie’s powerful vocals and amazing stage presence has me eager to see more of her in the upcoming months and years to come.

Of course, Marlon Tansengco and Von Saw‘s performances did not go unnoticed. They were all very, very good actors and I truly wish I could go into detail about their characters and why I love them so much without going too much into too much detail and robbing you of the experience of learning the story so I will just have to leave it at that. for now?

Overall, Monsters The Musical is a beautiful production with so many components that made it great. The acoustics were top notch, lights & technicals world class (hi Justin! I’m a fan!), the set design was straight to the point & no frills and while there were a couple mic issues, they were surprisingly resolved quite smoothly.

Monsters The Musical may be positioned, somewhat, as a modern love story but I still feel like it is a very classic love story (in it’s own ways). It talks about love between friends, family, one’s self, facing our most inner demons, being brave and honestly, I can’t imagine anyone who couldn’t relate to it.

I had an amazing time watching Monsters The Musical, I laughed; I cried; I pondered on my life and how precious yet fleeting every moment is and I feel like I came out of it a better person and for this experience, I am truly grateful.

As I end this review, I would like to commend the Cebuano theater community and supporters for our unwavering support for the arts. The Center Stage of SM Seaside was packed and every one in the audience was so amazing & behaved- not that I am surprised but I would still really like to congratulate us, as well. Cebu is ready for more productions like this and I am looking forward to us taking on bigger projects and taking our talents to a wider audience.

Congratulations to MDF Productions for a more than successful first production, Sir Jude Gitamondoc, Cattski, all the cast and crew.

I am looking for more runs! I also think that Jake’s character could get his own spin off. hahaha.

Issa G.

I’m personally super excited for this play because I think it’s high time we started talking about issues like this.

I can’t wait for November 16 and will definitely let you know how the play goes for those who are curious about it so stay tuned!

DUNKIN’ COFFEE DAY FILLS FILIPINOS WITH GOOD VIBES

Imagine waking up, struggling to get moving, braving through your daily commute, stopping by Dunkin’ Donuts to get that much needed caffeine boost. Then as if you’re still dreaming, Piolo Pascual is standing right in front of you, giving you a free cup of Dunkin’ Coffee and filling you with all kinds of good vibes you never saw coming.

This is not a scene from a movie but the experience of some very lucky people during the annual Dunkin’ Coffee Day last September 6, 2019.  Now on its third year, the event aims to spread more good vibes to the people who get their usual coffee fix at Dunkin’ Donuts.

Making this year’s Dunkin’ Coffee Day extra special was a visit from Piolo Pascual in three Dunkin’ Donuts stores. As if seeing his heart-melting smile wasn’t enough to wake anyone up, the Philippines’ Ultimate Heartthrob gave out free cups of coffee in Dunkin’ Donuts Strata, Fisher Mall Quezon Ave. and BGC 25/7 branches

Meanwhile, the rest of the nation celebrated Dunkin’ Coffee Day by proclaiming “Half Half Hooray!” That’s because for a medium hot or iced Dunkin’ Coffee, they only had to pay P25 or 50% off the original price of P50. Needless to say, customers lined up to get their fill of that Dunkin’ Coffee Feelin’.

If you missed this year’s Dunkin’ Coffee Day, don’t fret because this event will come back even bigger and better next year. In the meantime, you can still get your daily dose of good vibes from a cup of highquality Dunkin’ Coffee in all Dunkin’ Donuts outlets nationwide.

See you there!!

[VLOG/ BLOG] Cebu Ocean Park- Everything You Need To Know- Prices, Attractions, Interactions, Etc.

As of August 24, 2019, Cebu Ocean Park is now on their soft opening. While they are scheduled for their grand opening sometime in October 2019, guests are welcome to explore the area as early as now.

Here is everything you need to know about the area:

Cebu Ocean Park is located at Sm Seaside Complex, right beside Pedro Calungsod Church at the SRP. You can there via My Buses and PUJ aside from private vehicles.

They are open on Mondays- Fridays from 10:00am – 6:00 pm
and
Saturday, Sundays & Public Holidays from 9:30 am- 6:00 pm
with tickets being sold at P600.00 for locals on weekdays, P800.00 for foreigners and locals on weekends

Children accompanied by a paying adult that are below 2 ft. enter for free!

Cebu’s Ocean Park is said to be 6 times bigger as compared to the original Ocean Park in Manila and houses a range of animals from reptiles, birds, fishes and more!

There are 3 floors with specific sections for guest to enjoy such as the Jungle Trek, Creepy Critters, Lories, Seven Seas, Interaction Center, Fish Spa, Amphitheater, 360 Acrylic and others.

The Jungle Trek & Lorie section takes guests on an outdoor adventure allowing them to not only see but also interact with different kinds of birds, fresh water fish and reptiles such as lizards & snakes.

For P100.00 guests can feed the Lorie birds fresh nectar atop a viewing deck that shows a… birds eye view of the area.

The Seven Seas section carries various salt water creatures mostly tropical fish and in one section, eels. While they do not have the jelly fish room like in Manila, I am curious to see if this is something that they will be adding overtime.

The Center of Interaction, as the name suggests, is where guests can pay to experience different interactive activities with the animals such as Croc Cage diving (P2,000.00) where guests are encapsulated in a circular acrylic case wherein they are submerged into the crocodile area, Stingray Interaction (P1,000.00) where guests can swim with stingrays (or as pointed out by a friend- Eagle rays) and the Sea Trek (P1,200.00) where guests can walk around underwater while being surrounded by fish.

If you’re more of a watcher than a doer, this area has acrylic panels where you can get up close and personal with the Eagle rays and other wild life.

There is also a fish spa section (P100.00) where you can have “doctor fish” give your skin a little refreshing.

We also walked into their bird show stadium which can house 800 guests. While everything within Ocean Park is currently functioning and running except for the bird show section- this sis also another segment of the show I am greatly looking forward to.

Fun fact: I’ve been asking around where to apply as an animal trainer. I’m dead serious about working there. Everyone thinks I’m joking. I’m not.

The 360 acrylic section is where most, if not all, of your photos will most likely be taken. lol. jk. or not.

Curated feeds aside, the 360 acrylic walkthrough is a dome shaped pathway that is completely surrounded by water and different kinds of salt water fish with the main attraction being the sting rays and sharks!

The end of the hall eventually leads to the deep tank lagoon with lots of seating space and a great viewing glass for everyone to sit back and enjoy.

This is the last attraction of the tour before heading out to shop and eat.

While there are a few snack stalls along the area, there is also a Chinese restaurant named Gusto right before the exit. While I wasn’t able to check out the prices or get a peak at the food- as the Chinese characters on the logo suggest, I’m guessing that they’re oriental offerings.

If you’re on a budget or aren’t a fan of Chinese food, SM Seaside Cebu is right across you so with lots of other food selections.

They also have a gift shop section where parents can then be harassed by their children to buy then a stuffed toy. JUST KIDDING!!! or not. But seriously, they have a gift shop with lots of trinkets and memorabilia for guests to take home!

Other paid offerings:
Photo printing
Private function rooms

FAQs:
Should I make a reservation for tickets?
You can! But with the amount of people that the area can accommodate, it is unlikely that reservations are necessary.

Contact details?
(032) 888 5288

Map?
Here!

Is it worth it do go right now?
Honestly, if you asked me, it depends. 80% of the animals are already there and you barely know what you’re missing (aside from the bird show). If you’re from Cebu, we all have the privilege of waiting but if you’re a guest and are eager to see this wonderful new attraction, I definitely would not pass up the opportunity.

Do they have penguins?
No… not yet (?) I asked and they said they have yet to find out if they will or will not be available in Cebu.

What’s the state of the fish?
As a freshwater tank keeper, I would say that the fish are kept in the necessary living conditions considering that they are being kept in captivity. I was unsure about how I felt about COP opening in Cebu but seeing how much was taken into consideration in terms of space, temperature, lighting and how well the staff know about the animals, their needs and their general outlook- I know that the animals are safe and happy.

Do they have elevators/ escalators?
YES!

Any other questions? Feel free to leave them in the comment section below!

Keep Swimming,
Issa Gandionco

KBBQ with Private Function Rooms Monster Grill – Lahug, Cebu City

I love Korean BBQ. I LOVE KOREAN BBQ. I love smelling like KBBQ. I love sweating like KBBQ. The anthem of my life is 7 Meats and yes, it is about KBBQ. Have I made my point yet? :p

Korean BBQ spots have been popping up all over the place over the last few years, each one with their own twist like buffet styles, over the top side dishes, insanely low eat-all-you-can prices and you name it!

But one thing that I have yet to encounter in Cebu has been private function rooms where friends and family can gather and soak up in all that good KBBQ smoke. (lol) However, all that’s changed very recently with Monster Grill by Lemon Tree Spa recently opening their doors in the Lahug area.

I don’t exactly know how we found out about this place (probably through a FB add or from one of Paolo’s cousins) but we were really glad that we did! We really like how spacious the area is and even when it was packed with people, we barely noticed any smoke and unlike other KBBQ locations, it wasn’t chaotic nor did it feel claustrophobic.

As I mentioned, my favorite thing about this KBBQ restaurant is that they have private room options located on the second floor with options for small, medium and large groups. Some rooms even have projectors where guests can discuss meetings and etc. The two times that we’ve been there (within a month, might I add), we requested for the private rooms and thoroughly enjoyed cooking, talking and being able to laugh boisterously without the fear of judgement from other diners.

Another thing that I also REALLY like about Monster Grill is the unusually thick cut of their samgyupsal. I’ve been accustomed to the thiner slices of samgyupsal so I was both intrigued and apprehensive about trying it but I actually really liked it. In fact, I might even like it compared to the usual.

I was also able to try out their beef cuts and it was pretty similar to the short plate at Pearl Meat Shop (but picture, better location!) so yes, Monster Grill is officially my favorite KBBQ place in the entire world. For now. :p

I will be completely honest though, I do feel like they scrimp a bit on the side dishes but we can’t really have everything so I’ll take what I can. But in fair, they also have a lot of food offerings which encourages diners to actually eat something else aside from their meat.

Monster Grill is located at the Tree Shade Spa complex in Lahug (beside Metro Sports). They have parking, a cafe, a massage parlour and a bar in the area, as well.

They also accept credit cards & reservations.

Operating times: 10:00 AM – 1:00 AM everyday

HELP ME I’M HUNGRY,

Esquina Pasta Bar, Cebu

Lately laundry days with my sister have been one of my favorite bi-monthly chores (we’re disgusting, I know!) because laundry days are the times we both get to walk around the Mabolo area and discover new restaurants in Cebu.

For those who are wondering, I do my laundry at Rapid Rinse in Mabolo and if you didn’t already know, Mabolo is a haven when in comes to hole in the wall restaurants and such.

This week, we stumbled into a PASTA BAR which first of all, I never even knew existed (!!!) and boy did we have a blast!

I first heard of Esquina Pasta Bar on Instagram and was instantly drawn to their bright & catchy marketing material and well, long story short, I had to go. So last Wednesday, on laundry day, we ventured out to Esquina Pasta Bar at 39 C Pres. Laurel St. Villa Aurora, Kasambagan, Cebu City

Getting to the place was a little bit difficult for us because 1, we walked to the location & 2, we have no sense of direction and cannot comprehend maps. It took us a good 15 minutes to finally figure out where Esquina was but once you walk by it, you can’t miss it! (I was suggested to follow Waze to get there)

The pasta bar is outdoors but well ventilated and shaded for those who are iffy about the heat & humidity. Plus, the pretty exteriors makes you forget you’re even outdoors so there’s really nothing to worry about!

I was really interested in their menu as they not only had a nice selection of regular & premium pastas but they also offered what they call the Collossal Chicken, which is closely resemblant to Taiwan’s popular Hot Star chicken.

We were only able to order two of the items on their menu which was ok because it only made us want to go back sooner even more!

We were definitely impressed by the serving size and flavors in each of the dishes that we tasted and I also really appreciated how they altered my linguine shrimp scampi and made it non- spicy, as per my request.

Country Fried Steak – P 180.00

Linguine Shrimp Scampi –  Php 155

I am definitely going back to Esquina Pasta Bar in the near future and would suggest this pasta bar to my younger market who loves adventures and good food. I can’t wait til my next foodie adventure (hopefully laundry days can be a weekly thing) but until then, please do drop by Esquina Pasta Bar.

Esquina Pasta Bar is open every Tuesday – Sunday from 4:00 pm – 12 mn

SEE YOU THERE!

Loon, Bohol- A Photo Diary (Photos by Angging)

After weeks of back to back weddings & events, we were finally able to squeeze in a little down time to pack our bags and just get out of town.

It was a weekend I had been praying for ever since our good friends ditched the city life to raise their kids and build a life in Loon, Bohol and while I resented them for moving my god children away from me, I truly understand why they did it now.

I stayed up the entire night drinking the night before with my sister in law as we discussed how we were going to celebrate Mercury’s Rising (I don’t actually know if I believe in this or not but hey!) and I found myself drunk packing for this trip which surprisingly wasn’t bad- apparently drunk Issa is ok with repeating clothes and using bikinis as underwear.

We spent most of the weekend drinking beer & bahalina, playing with the kids, cooking with coal, preparing meals and sleeping in hammocks. Well, I got to sleep with the kids in their rooms but you get the idea. On Sunday, we went trekking at one of the rivers and eventually found a couple spots where we laid our things, swam and you guessed it… drank some more.

I feel like I really  needed this weekend because I’ve been beating myself up over a lot of things. I’ve really been doubting myself and I can start to feel the pressure really getting to me. I needed to take a step back, not feel the stressors of the city and then wake up on Monday and be like, “bitch, we got this!”. It’s Tuesday now and I think it worked.

Surprisingly, when Almay asked me how the city life has been like and what I’ve been up to- I really didn’t have much to say about it. So what have I really been up to lately?

Also, we’ve been married for 3 months now. Wow, we made it! HAHAHAHA I can finally get my marriage license and everything now!

Smoothie Bowls, Poke Bowls, All Day Bfast Meals & Cool Vibe @ Cooee, Cebu

First of all, I know you’re all wondering what Cooee means and most of all- how to pronounce it. For starters, it means “come over/ come here” in Aussie slang and it’s pronounced as koo-wee, preferably in a high pitched tone. Like I like to say, you learn something new every day!

Cooee, which is a passion venture between friends and their love of food and adventures, is home of baked, blended, brewed & juiced goodness. By the slogan alone, you can expect food offerings of desserts & pastries, smoothies/ smoothie bowls, brewed coffee and different juices. Aside from that they also offer all day breakfast variations, tropical poke bowls, healthy breakfast offerings, sandwiches and so much more!

I super love how the interiors are super chic and chill. It’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends, take photos and enjoy yummy food. I was really impressed by their selections and how affordable they are and the amount of their servings.

Just to give you an idea- a poke bowl with salmon sashimi (which a friend said was comparable to the ones in Bali) costs only P245.00!

While I won’t go into detail about every dish that we had (or will I), my general opinion is that if you have a knack for interesting dishes and tastes that are well loved around the world then you would definitely find comfort in their offering. It’s a great mix of tropical, sweet and savoury food and if you’re looking healthier options whether it be food or drinks- there’s definitely a wide selection to choose from here.

Ohana Bowl Bowl – P 245.00

Cooee Breakfast – P 245.00
