Midnasty in Cebu at League Sports Bar

In celebration of their 1st year anniversary, League Sports Bar sent over the famous Dumaguete based singers- slash- rappers, Midnasty, who popularized the song Lame to party with them. Being a huge fan of them myself, I couldn’t pass off the opportunity to rock out with them during this event.

I know this is only a short vlog but you honestly had to be there to feel the music, the passion and the love during this night. If you’ve never heard their music before, make sure to check them out because their art is dope.

Also, I had my photo taken with Nik Kho and he is a cutie!

FACT: I can rap most of their songs.

Camping at Foressa Mountain Town & Lazada Camping Equipment Haul

Camping in the great outdoors was something Paolo & I had being discussing for quite some time now. Late last year, we, along with a bunch of camping avid friends were finally able to experience a short but sweet camping trip at Dwight’s peak which I featured here and we were immediately HOOKED.

Looking back on the video and the post itself, I realize that I was too drunk to even have the decency to share our experience or yet alone provide any useful bits of information in the entry so consider this as my way of making up for it. snicker, snicker.

It was during that camping trip where we learned that camping outdoors is more than just having a tent and bag- we had to equip ourselves to survive sleeping in the wilderness, preparing and cooking meals and the like. Without being willing to spend so much on camping gear, we turned to Lazada (not an ad) and though we had a million doubts about whether or not the quality would be good, we still had high hopes and was eventually able to put them to the test during our 2nd camping experience.

What we bought:

Naturehike Ultra Tent comes with foot print, tent, fly & pegs

Decathlon sleeping tent

Inflatable pillow

FFY Mini headlamp

Portable light

Camping stove

Camping cookware

Folding stool

Retractable cup

Portable tableware

Of all the items that we got, the only things I regret buying at the portable tableware sets and the retractable folding cups not because they aren’t useful but because I feel like if I made a trip to Daiso or any P99.00 store, we could have gotten it a lot cheaper. If you want to find out more about what I think about the items I got, make sure to check out my vlog above.

For our second camping trip, Paolo & I were hoping to find a place we could camp at that wasn’t too much of a safety hazard. With it being our first camp without any friends, we couldn’t take any chances. Much to my delight, Paolo was able to discover Foressa Trails , which is a development under Aboitizland which offers hiking, biking & camping options to outdoor enthusiasts. With various activities to choose from, we were mostly excited that they had bathrooms, showers and a washing area aside from security. Not that we’re prudes or anything but these amenities make it easier to introduce our friends and families to camping without overwhelming them too much.

Here are some photos of the area and the rates, should you need them!

Hope you enjoyed this and that it inspires you to explore the great outdoors!

Be responsible campers.

Tech Review (Blog & Vlog): P9,990.00 Oppo A83 Smart Selfie First Impressions

Oppo’s first release for the year 2018 is finally out and not just with a sizzle but with a big, bad bang!

Retailing at only P9,990.00, the Oppo A83 Smart Selfie is an affordable mobile phone that offers all the features of any high end phone for a quarter of the price.

Check out its key specs:

With features like AI Beauty Technology, a 5.7″ full HD screen, 3 GB RAM + octa- core CPU, 3180 mAh battery life, dual sim and expandable memory options it makes you wonder, what else is this phone capable of doing?

Box contents: Silicone case, headphones, micro USB 2.0 charger, adaptor, cellphone unit with tampered glass already attached & manuals (not in photo)

FIRST IMPRESSION:

SIZE. Being a fan of large screens, I was initially impressed by the screen size, slimness and how the unit fit snugly in the palm of my hand. It’s also a very slim phone so handling it is really no problem at all.

LOOK. As seen in the contents of the box, the unit already comes with an attached tampered glass and a silicone case which I think was a very thoughtful gesture.

In terms of color, the Oppo A83 only comes in either champagne or black which made me yearn for a little more options but nevertheless, these two choices are still pretty good options.

BUTTONS & JACKS. There are no buttons in the front of the unit while there are 3 buttons located at the sides of the unit (lock & volume buttons) which honestly feel a little bit flimsy and there is also slot for your micro SD card and 2 sim cards. At the bottom of the phone are the speakers, a micro USB 2.0 port and a standard audio jack. (YEY for standard jacks!)

OVERALL. In terms of the look and the feel of the unit, there’s really not much to complain about and if you’re looking for a sleek mobile phone, this is as good as it gets!

TURNING ON THE UNIT.

Again, the unit has a 720×1440 pixel display and a 5.7″ screen which is pretty clear. Based on my initial use of the unit, I noticed that the colors where vivid, allowing me to distinguish smaller details and gradient designs.

CAMERA

Since this is called the “Smart Selfie” phone, I couldn’t let my initial review pass without testing out the selfie camera itself. Now, I forgot to mention above that the phone does come with two cameras in the front which should indicate better selfies but aside from the impressive hardware, it also comes with  A.I. Beauty Technology which based on the video below, is a feature important in capturing the best version of yourself.

Here are a few of the selfies that I took using the selfie camera. Please note that this was done in the evening under florescent lights.

FACIAL RECOGNITION

What got me the most excited about this phone is it’s Facial Recognition feature which was a breeze to set up and even use. As you can see in the video, I had no problems at all setting it up and there were no issues during actual application of this feature.

Over the week that I had the unit with me, I was able to really test it out; figure out what I liked and what I didn’t like about it and try out every feature of the phone which I will be sharing on my user review within the week so if there’s anything you’d like to ask me about the phone, feel free to leave them in the comments section below.

Already convinced? Here’s where you can buy yourself an Oppo unit in Cebu!

How To Casually Wear Long Skirts

A fashion secret of mine whenever I want to look like I tried but really didn’t is to overdress. By overdress I don’t mean by wearing a gown to the mall but instead, wearing statement pieces casually. A long dress? Skip the heels and sport a cute cardi. A full length skirt? A white tee. Just because you bought a piece just for a special occasion doesn’t mean you can only wear it then. If that were the case, would you even ever wear it again?

Sometimes dressing down = dressing up. Especially if you’re me. And you’re lazy. Which also means you’re me.

Shades: Forever 21| Top: H&M| Skirt: Gaisano Grand (Car- car branch)| Bag: Pop District Bazaar| Sandals: Car- car

I swear I try. lol.

Bride Diaries #1: Picking Out Churches Ideal For Weddings in Cebu/ Requirements/ Budgeting

I have never been the type of girl who fantasized about weddings or being a bride. Being a princess, a superstar, an astronaut and everything else in between, yes but a bride- never. Don’t get me wrong, I always knew that I one day wanted to be married but I always imagined the being married part much rather than getting married. I had never been a wedding and thought to myself, “I want my wedding to be like this” except for one occasion where our friends had hired a Zumba instructor and I spent most of the night drunk and dancing in my bare feet. So when Paolo had popped the question on that fateful night on the 25th of December and after all the merriment was made, I was left with the question- what’s next?

Sure, I had gone on Pinterest and filled my board with inspirations of dresses, decors and the like. I had searched for budgeting ideas,  timelines and themes so much that I had overwhelmed myself to the point that in less than a month, that I had printed myself a possibly already 100 pages already Bridal Binder which, after a month or so, I have already left to rot somewhere in my office. And yet, when you ask me the 4th & 5th most important questions of any wedding: “where and when are you going to get married?” I still have no answer to give you.

(I believe that 1st most important question is: Who are you going to marry? 2nd: Why do you want to get married? 3rd: How much is your budget?)

Upon speaking to our parents, they had advised us to first to set a budget and most importantly, to stick to it! They had given us money saving techniques and ideas on how we could be more practical on our spending for this special day which Paolo and I have been mindful of in every step of the way. These tips, I will definitely share with everyone when the time is right.

Following this, we were then advised to set a date for a wedding and to book a church (since Paolo & I agreed to have a Catholic wedding) as soon as possible as some churches get booked fast. Also, people are going to constantly badger you for a wedding date so you might as well have an answer.

PICKING OUT A CHURCH:

Paolo and I had discussed our requirements and expectations of where we wanted to get married even before we started checking out churches. We both agreed that we wanted it to have air conditioning (we’re thinking of getting married some time in the summer), intimate, accessible to our guests and most of all, affordable. This then helped us narrow down our choices. Surprisingly, we were in for a rude awakening.

We then decided to check out 3 churches: St. Therese Church (Lahug), San Pedro Calungsod Shrine & Sacred Heart Church/ St. Francis Xavier Chapel.

ST. THERESE OF THE CHILD JESUS PARISH

Price with aircon: additional P35,000.00
Seating capacity: over 1,000 people

As beautiful as The St. Therese church was, I cannot deny the fact that it is a whole lot of yellow and a whole lot of yellow that I cannot bear to stand which I expressed very openly in our vlog. For the price of P45,000.00 for an hour, for what we hope would be less than 200- 250 people, St. Therese Church would mean spending too much for too much space that would not be used. Also, P35,000.00 more for air conditioning?

CEBU ARCHDIOCESAN SHRINE OF SAINT PEDRO CALUNGSOD

Seating capacity: 150 people
No aircon. welp.

I honestly had my heart set on San Pedro Calungsod Shrine the moment I heard about it. Having visited it twice, I was immediately mesmerized by the interior because not only was it beautiful but it also meant that we would not have to spend on church decorations. Over the recent years, the shrine was only open for renewal of wedding vows and was just recently available for newly weds. Unluckily for us, they do not have air conditioning which as mentioned, is one of our church requirements.

SACRED HEART PARISH & ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CHAPEL

Seating capacity: 200 people

Close to giving up and fearful that we would have to increase our budget and compromise on a not-so-intimate wedding, I remembered that my aunt had recently mentioned getting married at the chapel beside the famous Sacred Heart Church. Little did we know that it was right within our budget, had aircon and actually fit all the requirements we had wanted in a church!

There is a slight problem of it being connected to the baptism area and only being divided by glass panels which could be a possible distraction during the ceremony but I’m hoping that we can cover it up. Also if you’re wondering, weddings and baptisms are not allowed to happen simultaneously and I also very, very happy!! weeee!

To be honest with a lot of you, I’m still more interested in actually being married than getting married itself but I’m going to try and enjoy this process as much as I can because at the end of the day, there are people out there who could only dream of being where I am and therefore, I consider myself blessed. Paolo and I are very simple people who enjoy being silly and simply want our special day to reflect who are as a couple and of course, to be filled with the kind of love that we have for each other.

On another note, I’d like to believe that my blog, along with my readers, grow as I do which is why I have decided to share every experience in the wedding planning as much as I can. If you have questions/ clarification, inquiries and suggestions on further posts, feel free to let me know in the comments section below and let’s have a discussion!

Always Greens, Sometimes Beef, Often Fish & Always Yogurt

You always do the groceries on Valentine’s day because we all know that if I had to it, it would take 2 hours and we’d come back with 6 bags instead of just 3. This time though, you came with 3 extra bottles of sauce (?) and I am now seeing, a can of corn. We currently have 2 cans corn in the cupboard but who’s counting anyways? I’m not one to complain about extra corn 😬

I promise to make the dressing next year. I always said I would learn it. I just hope it’ll be as good as the one’s you make.

I love you with all my heart, Pao. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to mean it more because I love you whole. I love you with all I am capable of. You deserve it all.

I should blog here more often.
