TREND ALERT! Tinted Shades & Gingham

I believe it is safe to say that 90’s fashion has officially made a comeback!!! I think I’ve said this already somewhere on this site but in case you are new here, let me say it again: THE 90’S ARE BACK!

I realize that there are two sides to this flashback with the first point being: wasn’t the 90’s fashion kinda tacky? and secondly… well, that’s the only point I can think of right now. But who cares? I don’t!

I was born and raised in the 90’s and though some of the styles are a little bit over the top e.g. holo skirts and neon everything, I grew up spending hours browsing through glossy pages of magazines imagining of one day being able to pull off those styles… and that time is now!

L_U_E_U_R sent me a package with this gingham crop top and pink tinted shades and I was shookt! Here’s how I wore it:

The rose tinted shades and gingham were already pretty bold statements so I decided to mute it out by just pairing it with some denim jeans. For footwear, I would top this look off with some white Keds (if I had any!)

I’ve got a whole lot of OOTDS I cannot wait to share with you all- I’ve just been a bit busy with work and spending time with family. Please bear with me, I love you all!

No Bathing Matter- My No Ligo Look ?

We’ve all been there, right? You know, days when you just had to pull yourself out of bed and didn’t have the time to shower? No? Ok then, that’s just me.

Here’s my situation: I am extremely kandingun aka in english, scared shitless of cold water. I only function in warm water but we haven’t gotten around to setting up our heater yet so I’ve had to succumb to ice cold baths ’til godknowswhen. So some days, like this day, when I have to wake up a little earlier than I usually do and bathing is purely optional (I bathed the night before OKAYYY), then I’ll just throw on something cute and head on out.

I was dragged to a meeting I didn’t have to be at with the promise of food and grocery shopping after. I simply could not resist the thought of hash browns and a replenished pantry so, yeah.

When you go out batheless, the last thing you want to do is state the obvious so a chic outfit is always necessary but at the same time, you don’t want to try too much. If you weren’t in the mood to shower, what makes you think you’re in the mood to actually dress up?

I just threw on a light brown dress from Let’s Stylize and an over sized kimono paired off with over-sized glasses (to hide my make- upless face) and some mules I got from ParisianSee, I look like I actually tried. My fashion tip: Keep a statement kimono, cover up, jacket on hand to spice up an outfit. I do it all the time!

What do you think of this look?

Also, who wants to buy me a wire for our heater?

White On White ft. Zalora

There’s something magical about a pristine white dress. There are no words for that exact moment when you walk in, heads turn and it dawns upon how powerful a piece of fabric can actually be.

Lots of women have that one dress that “makes” them like J.Lo’s Versace dress; Lady Gaga’s meat ensemble, Audrey Hephburn’s timeless Breakfast at Tiffany’s look and the list goes on and on. Truthfully, if anyone’s going to remember me in anything, I honestly wouldn’t mind if it was this one. Sure, it’s not a wedding dress or anything, but it I might as well marry it!

I like to say that, “it’s the person that makes the outfit” but sometimes, it’s also the other way around and this dress has by far got to be my best pick-me-up-dress that I like to keep hidden for extra special days. Despite the off-shoulder trend being a big hit in the markets lately, I do not fear the day that this dress becomes a fashion faux pas especially because unlike other renditions of the shoulder baring look, this dress is timeless. It doesn’t hurt that it cost me less than a thousand pesos either.

Babies & Brunches

DSCF0261

I still have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that most of my friends are already working, let alone getting married and having babies! But yes, I am finally at that age where everyone thinks we have out sh*t together but the reality is, the majority of us are still trying to figure it out.
Being an “adult” is definitely a lot harder than what I had imagined it to be and to be honest, I don’t even think I’m half way there which means I have A LOT of growing up and maturing to do. When I was younger, I thought adulthood simply revolved around work and family but apparently, it involves a lot more than that… most of which I am not prepared for and some, I am just grateful to have even experienced. But when life gets hard, and it usually does, I know that I can always lean on my girlfriends for a good support system.
Struggles, jobs and people may come and go and I guess that’s a big part of life but always keep your friends close because with the right ones, you will never lose you way!

[VLOG] Back To School Looks

School is just around the corner and I’m sure a lot of my young readers are both eager and nervous at the same time. I know a lot of things are running through your heads right now and the last thing you want to worry about is what you are going to wear on the first day of school. I know what it’s like to be you so I’ve decided to come up with a few looks for you to try and replicate for at least the first 5 days of school. 😉

I also want to talk about the quality of my videos, my editing and this whole Youtube thing. I know my editing, backgrounds and what not aren’t the best right now and I’m trying reallyyy hard to learn how to edit on my own so if you have any suggestions and ideas, please let me know so I can apply them in my next video. Your opinion means a lot to me and I am always looking for ideas to make this blog better!

Lastly, for this video I also tried to wear brands and clothing that are affordable and school appropriate. Some of you might be ashamed to shop at department stores but that shame speaks more about you and the kind of person you are. No offense, but it’s the #truth. Although there are a few looks that are sleeveless, don’t hesitate to wear a jacket over it, if needed! Here are the brands that I have featured in this vlog:

Look 1 (Monday)

Still really trying to learn how to make fashion vlogs so please bear with me. 😛 But this is definitely a big jump from my first “Rainy Day Looks” video! haha. Anyways, check out a few back to school look ideas that are perfect for colleges located in warmer places. If you’re from the Philippines and you have strict dress code rules, you can still use a lot of these ideas by just throwing on a nice sweater to match!

Hotel Rooms & A Short Rant On “Beauty”

DSCF9229

Just came back from my trip to Moal Boal where we spent our lovely and much needed trip at Club Serena where we were able to watch the whale sharks, the sardine run and the turtles. Along with that trip I was able to come home with wonderful memories and jelly fish stings all over my body! It was totally worth it and although I am itching uncontrollably, I am more grateful than I am angry. Maybe next time I’ll  wear a rash guard or a wet suit but that’s for another adventure *two weeks cannot come any sooner*!

Vacations are always a great time for me to insert scenic/ dramatic photo shoots because of the great scenery and new backdrops and even if I have to run back and forth to set my self timer. Yes, I take my own photos with the aid of my handy dandy tripod. So if you have one, use it and if you’re planning to get one make sure to invest in a sturdy tripod because cameras are expensive and there’s no point in scrimping out on your accessories.

A thought that came into my head as I was writing this is the issue of skin color and the fact that I am currently 2 shades darker than I normally am.

We live in a society where people adore people with fairer skin and think that being white or fairer is the equivalent to beauty. They try so hard to get that look and invest so much on whitening products and stay as far away as possible from the sun. If that’s what you’re into then fine, I’m not going to judge you but at least have the decency to respect those who are not afraid to get a real tan.

I’ve always been a morena, even if most of my relatives are fair skinned. My mom is white, my dad is white, my siblings are white and I am not. My grand father, who I looked up to greatly growing up and my aunt who won Miss Cebu Tourism in 1990 have the same skin color as I am and growing up, I looked to them for confidence when everyone was telling me that I was getting too dark and that I shouldn’t stay under the sun to play tennis, swim and all the activities I involved myself in growing up. They were proud of their color, they never let society define them and they succeeded and are continuing to succeed because color is not proportionate to what you are and what you can achieve.

I’m not saying to disregard sun block and soak up in the sun because these products prevent cancer, burn and premature wrinkling among other things- I use them when I can and I will continue to use them because I believe in taking care of my body. What I am saying is to not look down on anyone who does not fit your personal beliefs of beauty because we are all beautiful in our own ways.

I’ve been called numerous things for being a morena like a farmer, a negra, poor, ugly and I’ve had people choose fairer people over me because to them I was not worthy of their attention/ affection and worse respect. Yes, it hurt but I never wanted to change who I was because of these small minded opinions and neither should YOU.

Love yourself first before you allow anyone else to love you and if you’re a morena living among people who think you need some gluta, papaya soap or to lock yourself in your room then you don’t need them because you’re fabulous the way you are! <3

As Bright As The Sun with Let’s Stylize and Havaianas

DSCF8923

When I’m not basking under the summer sun, you’ll be sure to find me in Let’s Stylize’s new summer collection of kimonos and cover ups. I love cover ups and I find them super handy especially when you want to walk around but you don’t want to commit to wetting your towel or your change of clothes just yet.

I have a couple of these bad boys which I will be recycling throughout the summer and if you don’t have your own, I suggest your get one before it’s too late.

I find chiffon cover ups to be my favorite so far because they are light weight and dry up easily so I don’t worry about it getting too heavy from absorbing water off from my body. Other than that, cotton cover ups and kimonos aren’t that bad either.

Usually if I’m wearing tight pants I’d prefer to pair them with a loose top or if I do wear a tight top, I’ll pair it with a kimono or a cardigan. I am amazed by kids who can manage to pull off a crop top and Daisy Duke shorts because I don’t think I’d ever be able to. Maybe in another life.

In this case, I couldn’t keep myself from pairing these pants with a white cropped top (to balance out the hues) so I could really show off the details of these pants. Twas definitely a cold day but it was all worth it!
